Command is built around a relationship-driven, long-term mentorship model. Each student works closely with a full-time near-peer mentor from a top university who provides continuous guidance from start to finish.

Unlike more traditional consulting models, our work is not episodic or transactional. Mentors serve as both strategic advisors and active partners—guiding students through each stage while also ensuring that ideas are executed and progress is sustained.

Students also benefit from the broader Command team, with access to specialists in test preparation, essay development, and project work. We also have an in-house design team that supports students in developing and presenting more advanced projects, helping bring their ideas to life at a high level.

This combination of consistent one-on-one mentorship and team-based support allows for both depth and continuity.

Students have unlimited access to their mentor and the broader Command team.

While most students meet with their mentor on a weekly basis, support is not confined to scheduled sessions. Mentors are available as needs arise—whether that’s reviewing work, preparing for an opportunity, or making time-sensitive decisions.

This ensures that guidance is available when it is most impactful, and that students are supported not only in planning, but in execution.

All of our mentors are full-time and have graduated from the same institutions our students are seeking to attend. More importantly, they are selected for their ability to build meaningful relationships with students and guide them through a multi-year process.

Because mentors are closer in age and have recently navigated the same process, they are more relatable and motivating for students, driving stronger engagement and follow-through than more traditional advising models.

We take a highly intentional approach to matching. After getting to know your student’s interests, goals, and personality through our questionnaires and an initial conversation with our mentoring leadership team, we pair them with a mentor who is best suited to support their development.

The strength of this relationship is central to the experience, so we place significant emphasis on ensuring the right fit from the outset. We also remain attentive to the relationship over time and will adjust if needed to ensure the strongest possible fit.

Christopher continues to work directly with a very limited number of students each year. His availability is highly selective, and in most cases, families engage with Command through our broader mentorship model, which reflects the approach, emphasis on emotional intelligence, and direct experience guiding students that he developed in founding Command—all of which continue to shape our methodology today.
